# Ask the broker

> What the broker on tango.finance answers, how a positioning card shows each scenario and its costs, and what happens when you confirm a plan.

The broker answers questions about the markets with your positions in context. Ask it what happened today, what an event means for what you hold, or how to protect a position, and it answers in a few plain sentences. When it suggests a change, it shows one positioning card that you can confirm or leave. This page explains what an answer contains and what happens when you confirm.

> **Key points**
>
> - Answers list their sources under the text, and the events that matter with their date and time in UTC.
> - Every figure on a positioning card comes from the plan Tango built and priced, never from the broker's own words.
> - The card shows the most the plan can lose, its costs and how long it should take, before you confirm.
> - Nothing runs until you confirm and your device signs the plan's approval.

## Asking

The question box on Home starts with "Tell me what happened in the markets today". Ask that, or change it. To ask about one stock, tap its picture on Home or on its page: the box then shows "About" with the stock's name, and the answer focuses on it.

## What an answer contains

An answer opens with two or three plain sentences. The sources it used are listed underneath, numbered as the text cites them. When upcoming events matter, such as an inflation report or a rate decision, a timeline shows each one with its date and time in UTC, the consensus forecast and the positions it touches.

The broker reads market data and news, and it can be wrong or late. Its answers are information to help you decide, not a promise about what markets will do.

## The positioning card

When the broker suggests a change, it shows at most one card.

| Part | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| Aim | Defensive, to soften a loss, or offensive, to add exposure |
| Lines | One plain line per step of the plan, with what it costs |
| Scenarios | For each scenario, the result for your positions now, for the plan alone and for both together, with the method and period behind it |
| Most it can lose | The largest loss the plan's own steps can make |
| Costs and time | Every fee the plan pays, and how long it is expected to take |
| Confirm before | When the prices behind the card expire |

Choose Confirm to go ahead, or Not now to leave it. If the prices have expired, ask again for current ones.

## When you confirm

Tango builds the plan from the card, and your device signs an approval for exactly that plan: what it may spend and until when. The plan then runs step by step, and the card shows its progress: the step it is on, such as "Step 2 of 4", the time since it started, and each step's label. Labels stay general (Reading markets, Processing transaction, Confirming transaction, Moving funds), since one step may involve several services.

If a step's price moves outside what you approved, the plan pauses and says why. If a step's outcome is unclear, Tango checks what happened before doing anything else, and never sends the same step twice. Cash that a stopped plan leaves elsewhere stays yours and shows as cash, which you can bring home. Every plan and its steps stay in Activity.
