Using tango.finance

Sign in and add cash

How you sign in to tango.finance, what the wallet it creates for you holds, what allowing automatic actions lets Tango do, and how cash you add starts earning.

You sign in to tango.finance with an email address, a Google or Apple account, or a passkey. Signing in creates a wallet for you, and that wallet holds everything you own in the app: your cash, your stocks and the accounts your perps and outcome contracts sit in. This page explains the first three things you do: sign in, allow automatic actions, and add cash.

Key points

  • Signing in creates your own wallet. Your assets stay in it; nothing is pooled with other people's.
  • Allowing automatic actions lets Tango carry out plans you confirm, within fixed limits. It can never send your money to anyone else.
  • Every plan still needs your approval on your device before it runs.
  • Cash you add is supplied to a money market so that it earns while you are not using it.

Signing in

Choose Sign in and pick a method. The first time you sign in, the app creates your wallet without asking anything more. You never see a seed phrase or a network: the app shows dollars and the names of what you hold.

Allow automatic actions

Many plans take several steps, and some finish after you close the app. To carry them out, Tango adds a signer to your wallet: a key that may only make the calls on a fixed list. The Allow automatic actions screen lists what it can and cannot do.

It canIt can never
Put your cash to earn, and take it out when a plan you confirmed needs itSend money to anyone else
Buy and sell the stocks you confirm, paid out to your own walletApprove more than a plan needs, or sign permits
Turn Earn on and off for your stocksRun a trade you have not confirmed on your device
Trade perps, and move cash between your perps account and your wallet
Buy and exit outcome contracts in an account of your own

The list is enforced outside the app: your wallet refuses anything not on it. Your device also signs an approval for every plan you confirm, and nothing in a plan runs without it. You can turn automatic actions off in Settings. Plans then stop, and your money stays where it is.

Adding cash

Choose Add cash on Home, in the header or in Settings. You can pay by card or send from another account, and the cash arrives in your wallet as a US dollar stablecoin. Cash that arrives is supplied to a money market, a lending market that pays interest, so it earns until you use it. The Cash card on Home shows how much is earning, its current rate, and how much is still in your wallet on its way there.

Rates change with the money market and are not a promise. When a plan needs cash, it takes it out of the money market first, as one of its steps.
