Using tango.finance
Costs
What a strategy on tango.finance costs, from the vault's own fees to swap, perps, bridge and network costs, who receives each one and where you see it.
A strategy has costs beyond the cash it trades. Every swap pays the venue and Tango, moving cash to Hyperliquid pays the bridge, Hyperliquid charges its own fees, and the vault itself can charge fees set when the strategy is deployed. This page lists each cost, who receives it and where you see it.
Key points
- Review's Costs section lists the Deployment Fee, and for a perps strategy the Perps Builder Fee and Hyperliquid Activation, before you deploy.
- Each swap pays an integrator fee to Tango, plus pool fees and slippage. These count against the trade's slippage tolerance.
- Each perp fill pays Tango's builder fee and Hyperliquid's trading fee. The first transfer to Hyperliquid pays its account activation.
- Tango pays the network fees on Base for deploying a strategy and for the deposits, withdrawals and changes you sign in it.
The vault's own fees
A Tango vault can charge management, performance, entry, exit and cancellation fees, each up to a ceiling fixed at deployment. On tango.finance, their rates are set when the strategy is deployed, and the app never changes them afterwards. Your wallet holds the role that could change them on the contracts. The platform's share of any fee goes to Tango, up to the contract's cap of 5% of fee inflows. See Fees.
Costs a strategy pays
| Cost | Who receives it | When | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swap integrator fee | Tango | Each swap a strategy makes, buying or selling | Inside each trade, counted against its slippage tolerance |
| Pool fees and slippage | The trading venue and the market | Each swap | Inside each trade |
| Perps builder fee | Tango | Each fill on Hyperliquid | Review, as Perps Builder Fee |
| Hyperliquid trading fees and funding | Hyperliquid, and the other side of each position | Each fill, and funding while a position is open | Positions, as Funding |
| Hyperliquid activation | Hyperliquid | Once, out of the first transfer to Hyperliquid | Review, as Hyperliquid Activation |
| Bridge fees | Circle's transfer protocol and its forwarding service | Each transfer between Base and Hyperliquid | Activity, in the transfer's amounts |
| Hyperliquid withdrawal fee | Hyperliquid | Bringing cash back from Hyperliquid to Base | Activity, in the transfer's amounts |
| Money market fees | The money market | Built into its share price | The money market's APY on Review |
A builder fee is a fee an app adds to the orders it sends to Hyperliquid. Tango's is never above Hyperliquid's maximum. A fill is an order, or part of one, that executes.
How swap costs are bounded
Every swap is checked by the vault against oracle prices after it runs. The value received must be at least the value spent minus the trade's tolerance, and the integrator fee, pool fees and slippage all count against that tolerance. A swap that would cost more reverts. See Tracked sub-accounts.
Bridge costs and small transfers
Moving cash between Base and Hyperliquid has costs that don't shrink with the amount, so small transfers cost a larger share. Agents move cash to Hyperliquid only when the transfer's fees fit within a limit you signed at setup, and a transfer too small for that waits. Close and Withdraw answer only to the bridge's own limits. See Perps on Hyperliquid.
Network fees
| Action | Who pays the network fee |
|---|---|
| Deploying a strategy | Tango |
| Deposits, withdrawals, closes and changes you sign | Tango |
| Agents' transactions on Base | Tango |
| Posting a perps account's value | Tango |
| Sending cash from your wallet to another address | You. The Fee row shows it before you approve, and on another network it includes the cross-chain transfer's fee |
| Card or Bank payments into your wallet | The payment provider's fees, shown by the provider |
What costs mean for a small strategy
Fixed costs, such as Hyperliquid's activation and each transfer's bridge fees, weigh more on a small strategy. That is why Review shows a Minimum for each strategy: the least it needs for its smallest buy on every asset, or for a perps strategy, for its first transfer to Hyperliquid to go through.
